Family Affair: Hermès Style

While the rest of us had to wait till today to begin enjoying a 3 day holiday weekend, 515 lucky blokes got to have theirs a week early.  In an unprecedented act of corporate community, Hermès closed every single one of their U.S. stores and foot the bill for their employees to gather for the first of what hopes to be a tri-annual family reunion celebration.

The event took place at the Hyatt Regency in Princeton, NJ. Festivites included a lavish recognition dinner (no catered BBQ *grin*), games (Family Fued - Hermès style) and art projects (DIY silk scarf decorating). After viewing displayed scarves, CEO and president of Hermès USA, Robert Chavez, commented that he wouldnt be suprised if some of the pieces ended up in production. Cant wait! (WWD)

Basking in the afterglow: Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Nirvana's Nevermind

Friday Finds: Cashmere shorts & Bottega Veneta Bag

Went bonkers over these JCrew hot pants that I posted on Tout-de-Suite last month. The bright color, the vintage style - totally on trend for Fall.

I wasnt about to drop $128 (not to mention they sold out of the orange in my size) so I've been on the hunt for a suitable replacement to pacify me. Fast forward a few weeks, I'm mulling around Salvation Army and stumble upon these high waisted ribbed cashmere cuties by Manrico Cashmere.

For those of you who dont know, Manrico is the Italian company that supplies cashmere for design houses such as Burberry and Louis Vuitton. With price points starting at over $200 and up, the $2.99 I paid for these babies was a STEAL!  But wait....The bargains don't stop there!

I take a peek over at the handbags, and my hand glides across THE softest leather I've ever touched. Flipped open the bag and voila! It's a Bottega Veneta Intrecciato bag complete with certificate of authenticity!

There was no price tag so I didn't want to get TOO excited. Brought it up to the register and the lady sold it to me for $1.99! *giggles* Thats MY kinda deal!

What ever happened to 'Thrift America' with Alexa Chung?

Fashion buzz last winter was that Alexa Chung was working with PBS to launch a vintage shopping series called "Thrift America" that would air on PBS in Summer 2011. Well, summer has come, and gone and (still) no show. I surfed and googled till I was cross-eyed but found zilch. Would love if someone out there could give me the heads up on the show.

Thanks Peeps!
