Julie Bowen in Temperly London

Vibrant color, sparkling details, excellent draping and sexy open back

Rose Byrne in Elie Saab (Hands down Best of Show - She ROCKED that jumpsuit!)

Bold shoulder, plunging neckline & exquisite beadwork (Flawless hair too!)

Friday Finds: $5 NWT Leifsdottir Cashmere Sweater ($228 retail)

No brand is more synonymous with the Anthropologie customer than Leifsdottir. Each item in their collection is always effortlessly casual yet classically modern at the same time.  Case in point this DARLING sold out 'Daybreak Cardi'. Made from the softest, palest lilac cashmere with the most adorable floating daisy buttons down the front!  Problem was, normal retail price was a whopping $228 *DOH!*

I'm a sucker for Anthropologie and all but there is NO-WAY my conscious would ever allow me to pay full price on their clothes.  Thank God I've got 3/4 of the brands they sell on "speed-dial" in my brain! Comes in handy while thrifting :) I was thrilled to be able to pick this one up yesterday for $5.  In case you're a little slow with the math, that's 98% OFF retail! It was just icing on the cake when I took it off the hanger to fold it into my cart and realized it still had all of the original tags attached *giggles*  I tell ya ladies, it PAYS to take your time & go piece by piece down those aisles.   There are treasures just waiting to be found!

R.I.P. Robert Hegyes (Epstein) of 'Welcome Back Kotter'

"Welcome Back, Kotter: The Sit-In (#1.15)" (1976)

EPSTEIN: [Late at night in the dark classroom] Hey, Horshack. Tell me somethin'. Do you ever think about what God is like?

HORSHACK: Oh, yeah. I think he's short. And he has a marvelous sense of humor. And a great laugh.

EPSTEIN: Y'know, I think God is kinda tough, y'know? But he's fair. Sorta like John Wayne in a white beard, y'know? "All right, pilgrims, move those clouds in a circle." {source}

...Tell the 'tough guy' I said hey when you hit those pearly gates Robert...

All I could do was cry: Etta James 1938-2012

Oh Miss Etta!...and just 5 days before your 74th birthday *tear*
I believe the title of your 1960 hit tune pretty much says it all....
You will be missed  xoxo

Friday Finds: $2.49 Judith Leiber monogramed speedy handbag

So I'm cruising along in the thrift store and headed down the handbag aisle.  I was initially drawn to this bag for its clean lines and extra long straps ( a whopping 13" handle drop). Then I zipped open the top and saw that gleaming "Judith Leiber" signature! {insert chorus of angels singing} Haaaaal-le-leuiah!

Now, I'll be honest, I've never been a huge fan of her bags. Those minaudieres? WAY too gaudy for my taste. Remember that God awful crystal mallard thing Big gave Carrie in SATC? *shivers* Yulch! Never the less, I acknowledge and appreciate the craftsmanship. So you could imagine my delight in stumbling upon this practical canvas speedy of hers. What a rare find!  It has all the signature elements of to the classic bag. The simple geometric shape (love how this expands with this side fold over snap tab!), the wear with everything color (platinum silver & brown canvas, brown leather, gold/silver toned hardware) and of course - the designer's monogram print.

As it is with some of my best vintage finds, there wasn't a price tag to be found.  Although this particular shop has a "No tag - No sale" policy, I was NOT about to leave that store without her. I got up to the cashier and had a manager paged. Ladies, I laid it on THICK. Went into the whole story about just moving to California, getting lost for over an hour trying to find the store and dreading having to drive ALL the way from Long Beach into Orange County tomorrow if I would have to wait for it to be priced.  Can you say drama queen? Ha-ha! Finally, the manager said, "Alright, alright. I've heard enough...I get it.  How about $2.49?" I did my very best to maintain composure, sighed heavily and said, "Well....OH-kay....I GUESS that's fair." Ha ha ha ha! I had to play it off ! After all - its a cardinal rule in thrifting:  Never let 'em see you get stoked. If the staff figures out they're pricing the good stuff cheap they'll start jackin them up. We cant have that now can we?

Anthropologie Finds: Scarab Ornament turned OOAK Pendant

Just scored this Christmas ornament at Anthropologie for 75% off. Isnt it adorable? I'm gonna attach it to a long vintage chain & make one bad ass pendant necklace (after I cut off that hideous beaded loop) *grin*  The photo doesnt do this baby justicce! Trust me...its MUCH more appealing in person. 1st off, this thing is honkin big (3.5" x 1" x 2.5"), the metal is a brighter gold, the faceted gem is not as dark and the rhinestones surrounding it catch the light brilliantly! They had a grasshoper, spider and catepillar too but the beetle was the cutest. Cant wait to wear my creation! {source}
